In a blink of an eye, we had to completely adapt to this "new" lifestyle. Virtual teaching has not been easy. I miss my students, I miss my classroom, I miss my co-workers - BUT, I am thankful for my health and my job.
My district switched to virtual learning back in March so I have been teaching virtually for about 7 months now which seems unbelievable. In this blog post I want to share my favorite websites/resources for virtual teaching that have helped me make learning more engaging and fun for my kiddos, as well as, things that have helped me stay organized.
Google Sheets: You can keep track of attendance, assignments, to-do lists, etc... I like to color-code and make it look cute. Simply input data and then click "insert" -> "checkboxes" and then change the fonts / colors if you want.

Jamboard is an interactive whiteboard system. Students can join and you can work together to complete different activities. I have used it for a K-W-L chart, a voting chart, or to just teach by using it as a whiteboard.

Quizziz allows you to conduct student-paced formative assessments in a fun and engaging way for students of all ages. There are pre-made templates but you can also make your own. You can import your classes from google classrooms which is awesome. It can play music for kids as well as show them memes as they take the test.

Custom Cursor is a google chrome extension you can add to change your cursor to make it easier to see for your students.

Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. You can sync it with google classroom. It helps make lessons more engaging and lets students have discussions with each other.

Boom Cards are self-checking virtual task cards. There is a free and paid version. With the paid version you can import your classes from google classroom. You can find a million free sets on TpT. Basically, students are shown one question at a time and get instant feedback on their answers.

Those are my favorite websites/resources for distance learning. They have made everything so much more engaging and fun for my kiddos (and myself). You can find tutorials on youtube on how to use the different resources. Plus almost all these websites have pre-made templates!
Of course, if you have any questions you can always reach out.

Love,
